Before: 

For the helicopter i used the polygonal lasso tool to cut round the shadow and get rid of the background, after that i used Curves (Image > Adjustments > Curves) or               (Ctrl + M) to make it brighter then i used levels (Image > Adjustments > Levels) or (Ctrl + L) to get rid of the background and make it a little bit brighter and less blurry.

For the solider i used the polygonal lasso tool to cut round the shadow and get rid of the background and to remove the Blu tack , after that i used Curves (Image > Adjustments > Curves) or (Ctrl + M) to make it brighter then i used levels (Image > Adjustments > Levels) or (Ctrl + L) to get rid of the background and make it a little bit brighter and less blurry.

For the barbed wire i used the Magic wand tool to get rid of the background and some of the shadows then i grabbed the Eraser tool and went round the edge to make it smoother because the image at first was a little bit blurry and to remove the rest of the shadow the Magic wand tool couldn't get after that i used Curves (Image > Adjustments > Curves) or (Ctrl + M) to make it brighter then i used levels (Image > Adjustments > Levels) or (Ctrl + L) to get rid of the background and make it a little bit brighter and less blurry.
