Photography evaluation

Photography evaluation

Our assignment was to make an advert out of the objects we took pictures of. I found a image of a light bulb with a scene going on inside. in this image there are underwater and pandas, lighthouse and a boat but this image is not advertising anything. Out of all the
images I found this was the one I thought I could re-create from the objects I have at home. My plan was to advertise a war/action game like the call of duty, so I took pictures of toy soldiers and toy helicopters, tanks and fences and then edited them using Photoshop. Because they were too dark I had to get rid of the shadows using the levels and the curves tools. I took the photos in the classroom. The equipment I used was the tripod, red headlight, camera, light stand and the seamless background. I used the bulb from home and the toy soldiers that were already in college.

- This is my finale image

The editing process i used was. I got a picture of a helicopter and changed it to black and white then I pasted in my light bulb and removed the inside and background, once the inside of the bulb was gone I got a background image of a desert then cropped around it so I could make the desert the same shape of the bulb so it looked like the desert was inside of the bulb then I got the soldier, barbed wire, and helicopter and merged it all together and turned it all black and white.
If I had to do this again I would try to make it look more realistic by maybe taking the photo of the bulb when its in sand so it looked like it was there and smoother the bulb so it looks more realistic and not like a sticker.

Sound in advertising major and minor key NEEDED

Sound in advertising

Non diegetic is when you can hear the sound but can not see were the noise is coming from. for example background gunfire in a war/action film to keep the feel there in a war.

Diegetic is when you can hear the sound and see where the sound is coming from for example seeing a POV of a solider shooting his gun.

Major key

Minor key

Tempo is how fast the song is

Before:
For the helicopter i used the polygonal lasso tool to cut round the shadow and get rid of the background, after that i used Curves (Image > Adjustments > Curves) or               (Ctrl + M) to make it brighter then i used levels (Image > Adjustments > Levels) or (Ctrl + L) to get rid of the background and make it a little bit brighter and less blurry.

For the barbed wire i used the Magic wand tool to get rid of the background and some of the shadows then i grabbed the Eraser tool and went round the edge to make it smoother because the image at first was a little bit blurry and to remove the rest of the shadow the Magic wand tool couldn't get after that i used Curves (Image > Adjustments > Curves) or (Ctrl + M) to make it brighter then i used levels (Image > Adjustments > Levels) or (Ctrl + L) to get rid of the background and make it a little bit brighter and less blurry.

Ghostly image

Ghostly image

the tools i used to make my image where the background eraser tool which i used to get rid of the background .

the effects i used where Image > Adjustments > Desaturate this made the image black and white i also used Filter > Blur > Gaussian blur which made the image look like a ghost by bluring it.

these techniques create the effect of making the image freaky imagery
this has made me feel a lot more confident with Photoshop .

Adverts

ADVERTS

Official Jeep Renegade Commercial ft. X Ambassadors "Renegades"

The song they used is called X Ambassadors Renegades
the tempo of the song is slow but still upbeat, so there were major keys. i would say the target audience is aged 30+ and the slow tempo song helps them to sell.

“Stolen Moments" by Gucci Cosmetics
The song they used has a slow tempo but the lyrics are not sad and it goes with the music video so major keys. i would say using a young women to try on the makeup and getting lots of attention will inspire the target audience to buy the product .

CSL Sofas TV Advert - Sofa Matchmakers
the song they used is about finding a match with a match maker which goes well with the goal of finding a that perfect sofa the song has a slow temp but is made up of major keys .

using the camera

Using the camera

i drew different angles of the camera. i drawn the front elevation, rear elevation, top elevation and the bottom elevation and there functions. For example:                                                                       The lens hood - the lens hood is used for protecting the lens from wind and stuff that would damage the lens
Mode dial - The mode dial is used for choosing what type of picture you want and how you want the picture to turn out eg:
P - program
A - aperture
S - speed
M - manual
the mode dial also lets you choose the best genre for the type of picture you want to take , if you wanted a picture of someones face then use the portrait, or a moving shot you would choose action.

Photoshop

Photoshop

In Photoshop i am confident i can use most of Photoshop like cropping pictures to merge it with another picture, for example getting a picture of someone with no hair and merging a picture of hair onto them to make them look like they have hair but i would like to make it look more realistic. I would like to get to know the tools better so i can make more realistic pictures.

Magazine advert ADD PAPER VERSION

Magazine Advert

Our task was to make a magazine page advert for our groups product ( Shampoo ) on Photoshop. I got an idea for my design on Google  when i searched '' Shampoo magazine ads '' and i found this -

I then recreated the pantene magazine advert on to Photoshop and my finale design looks like this -

To make this I copied and pasted in the pantene magazine advert and used the polygonal lasso tool to go round the woman's head to get her hair I then removed the hair of my clown on a new page then dragged and dropped the clown under the hair to make it look like the clown has the woman's hair then i added a background of a abandoned amusement park. I then added our teams slogan ''Shampoo that's good for you''  then a best buy on the bottom left to show our shampoo is the best and a preview of the shampoo on the bottom right and then a 1.99 price tag. I also used Curves an Levels on the clown to make the clown brighter and the hair shine more.

Taking photos of stuff from home

Taking photos

we were asked to find some weird and freaky images and bring in items from home to try and re-create them and take photos of them, i brought in : a glass, spoon and fork, my PlayStation controller , a small rock and a light bulb. these are the images of my items:

we then went on Photoshop and edited these pictures with curves ( Image > Adjustments > Curves. )  and levels ( Image > Adjustments > Levels. ) so far i have edited the glass and the PlayStation controller.i also used the crop tool and marquee tool to get rid of some of the background. i could improve these further by getting rid of the background on both of the pictures and i would like to make the glass less yellow
